ランキング等は客観的とも言い切れず、数や種類も個別に全てを追いかけるには多すぎ、自国のランキング等について一喜一憂しても意味がありません。しかしながら、自国を含め世界各国に関する様々な分析及び対応は常々必要です。
なお、「日本のガラパゴス症候群」という標題でこれまで来ていますが、総じて我が国を否定する趣旨では当然なく、あくまで今後の一層の繁栄のために改善すべき点を常々考えておかねばならないという趣旨です。当然ながら、我が国には素晴らしい面がたくさんあります。

Vol.17 パワーポリティクスの重要性（第５章－７）
『今世紀の米国』とも言われる中国は、当初は中小民間企業の発展による近代経済の奇跡を起こしていたが、1990年代までには大手国営企業が民間企業を邪魔するようになってしまい、世界で最も近代的な都市と評されることもある上海は、中国で最も非起業的な都市とも言われている。
また、中国は、IMFやWTOにおける自国の国際的影響力が国力ほど大きくないのではないかという心配をしている。戦間期に米国が、古き覇権国であった英国のパワーの道具かのようで英国の利益に直結していた国際連盟に、心地悪さを覚えたのと同様である。
そして、2009年初期のベストセラー『不幸な中国』は中国が超大国として自国の権利を主張することを促し、2008年10月24日のASEM直前には胡主席(当時)は構築される国際秩序においてより大きな声で中国のリーダーシップを発揮していくと約束している。2009年3月には、世界の中心国家たる中国は、米ドルの将来の役割の不透明さを取り上げ、世界の中心国家で無かったフランスが1960年代に主張していた基軸通貨をドルから総合的準備通貨へ変更する計画を持ち出したりもした。

Vol.16 パワーポリティクスの重要性（第５章－６）
銀行規制の問題と財政出動の問題の両方を欧州の政治が解決する策としては、前者については、欧州の銀行を一般的に監督するための技術的分析的能力を明らかに持っているECB(欧州中央銀行)がEU加盟各国の中央銀行を導管として活用することであった。
その上で問題となったのが、財政面での支援負担を各国政府間でどのように分かち合うのかである。一つのもっともな魅力的提案は欧州債の発行であったが、各国政府とりわけ大国がこの一時的危機対応によっていつも責任を負わねばならなくなるという政治的な圧力のシフトが起きるのを怖れて反対した。
結局、前者及び後者の解決において、より一層の欧州化を進めるか欧州統合を元に戻すのかというジレンマに直面した。
欧州化においては特にECBかEC(欧州委員会)を活用しなければならないのは明白であったが、ECBは欧州経済共同体加盟国中央銀行バーゼル委員会の拡張としてEUの枠外で拡大されたものであり、ECは永く行き詰っていた（ため容易ではない）。
更に、一層の欧州化は加盟国国家とりわけ独仏のような大国が主導者として進めるものであるが、相対的にその大国を弱くすることを含意しているため、大国は抵抗するであろうし、自国のケインズ的政策が効く状態即ち自国銀行のみを規制する現状に留まり納税者有権者という政治的支援者に恩恵を向けようとするだろうということがあった。この相反は、世界最良のモデルと一時は持て囃されたEUを急速に不安定にしている。
